About

Typora is a minimal desktop Markdown editor that renders formatting as you type, so there is no separate preview pane. It runs on macOS, Windows, and Linux and costs a one-time $14.99 for up to three devices.

Typora removes the classic split between Markdown source and preview: headings, lists, tables, images, and code blocks render inline the moment you finish typing them, while the underlying file stays plain Markdown on your disk. It is a strong fit for technical writing, with built-in MathJax math (including mhchem and AMSmath extensions and optional equation numbering), syntax-highlighted code fences, and diagrams via Mermaid, flowchart.js, and sequence diagrams. An outline panel, file tree, and file list help you navigate folders of notes, including folders synced through Dropbox or iCloud, and Focus Mode and Typewriter Mode keep attention on the current line. Appearance is fully customizable with CSS themes, with a community theme gallery at theme.typora.io. Export covers PDF with bookmarks, HTML, DOCX, OpenOffice, LaTeX, MediaWiki, and EPUB (several formats via Pandoc). Typora was free during its long beta and became a paid product with version 1.0 in late 2021; it is developed by Qiyun (Shanghai) Technology Ltd. and continues to ship regular releases (Typora 1.14 arrived in July 2026). There is no built-in sync, account system, collaboration, or mobile app: Typora is a local-files editor first.
