About

Napkin is an iPhone app for collecting short ideas, quotes, and insights, which it automatically groups by topic and resurfaces in a personally curated Daily Flow for reflection. It is made by a small, self-funded team in Switzerland.

Napkin is a deliberately small, reflective note-taking app focused on the very best ideas you come across rather than on productivity. You add ideas by sharing text from other apps, scanning a passage from a book, dictating, or typing, and Napkin's AI sorts them by topic automatically, so there are no folders or tags to maintain. Each day the Daily Flow surfaces a curated selection of your own ideas, and the personal AI suggests related topics to reflect on, weaving connections between similar concepts. The team frames this as a calmer alternative to social media scrolling, grounded in research on the 'Sense of Coherence'. Napkin is text-only, tuned for English (it also understands Spanish, French, and German), and does not offer note imports or advanced editing. It started as a desktop/web prototype, which was switched off on June 30, 2026 in favor of a rebuilt iPhone app (version 2.0); an iPad version is planned but there is no Android app. Napkin is built by David Felsmann, Fabian Wittel, and Djuro Alfirevic, with servers in Europe, encrypted databases, and AI hosted on its own servers.
