Effie is a distraction-free writing and note-taking app that lets you switch any outline into a mind map with one click. It syncs across macOS, Windows, iOS and Android and offers an optional AI writing assistant.
Effie is built for writers who want to move from scattered ideas to finished text in one place. Its editor uses a lightweight markup syntax with shortcuts, so headings, emphasis, comments and lists can be formatted without reaching for the mouse, and the interface strips away everything but the text. Any list can be turned into a mind map with one click and back again, with classic, tree and fishbone layouts, and text can be mixed freely with outline items so structure and prose live side by side. Sheets are organized in a library of folders, work offline, and sync automatically between Mac, Windows, iPhone, iPad and Android devices. Documents can be exported to PDF, DOCX, Markdown and Effie's own EffieSheet format, or shared as long images, and the Pro plan can post directly to WordPress, keep more version history, and save to local folders. The separate Effie AI plan adds summaries, rewriting and style changes, length adjustment, spelling and grammar fixes, translation, brainstorming, AI expansion of mind-map nodes, and generating a full article draft from a mind map. Effie originated in China (effie.co, led by CEO Li Ziran) and is published internationally at effie.pro by 7S2P Inc.; note that Effie requires a paid subscription, as the free download is only a trial for evaluation.
