About

Boost Note was an open-source Markdown note-taking app for programmers that later grew into a cloud workspace for team documentation and sprint backlogs. The service shut down on September 30, 2025, and its GitHub repository was archived in May 2026.

Boost Note started in 2015 as Boostnote, a free desktop Markdown editor aimed at developers, with code-snippet support, syntax highlighting, math (KaTeX) and diagram rendering, tags and folders. Its successor, Boost Note (BoostNote-App), added a local mode that stored notes on the file system and a cloud mode with collaborative team workspaces, document revision history, sharing with passwords or expiry dates, and later sprint backlog and knowledge-management features pitched as "document-driven project management" for remote DevOps teams. Clients existed for Windows, macOS, Linux, the web and mobile. The service was offered free, with Personal Pro at $3/month and team Pro at $8 per member per month. The company behind it, BoostIO (now IssueHunt, Inc.), was founded in Fukuoka, Japan, by Kazumasa Yokomizo and Junyoung Choi. The last app release, v0.23.1, came out in November 2021; in 2025 the team announced the end of service, stopped automatic billing on June 30, 2025 and disabled access on September 30, 2025, after which user data was deleted. The open-source repository was archived on May 12, 2026.
